2024 Projects – Completed Initiatives
Our 2024 edition completed two major projects, each designed to meet community needs and demonstrate measurable impact.

Community Seed Bank Mobile Application (Mozambique)
Challenge: The Mozambique Agricultural Research Institute (IIAM) in Tete Province faced difficulties in ensuring the availability and management of certified seeds for local farmers. The lack of an efficient system hindered seed distribution, record keeping, and yield prediction.
Solution: The team developed a prototype for a Community Seed Bank Mobile Application and a supporting project website. The app included features for yield prediction, record keeping, and monitoring seed distribution, tailored to the needs of the local community.
Impact: The solution enhanced seed management efficiency, improved access to certified seeds, and strengthened local agricultural practices. Team members gained technical skills (web and app development), experience in international collaboration, and exposure to real-world agricultural challenges.
Duration: May 20, 2024 – August 2024
Team: Bongo Joshua (Soroti University, Uganda), Monge Macklyne (Makerere University, Uganda), Osvaldo Paulo Pessuro (Zambeze University, Mozambique), Onuchukwu Goodness (University of Nigeria Nsukka, Nigeria), Marcelo Márcia Mucache (Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique), Napoleon Glory (Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria)

Waste Management for Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services (Nigeria)
Challenge: Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services in Nigeria needed effective solutions for waste management and odor control, which are critical for sustainable agricultural operations.
Solution: The team proposed the use of bio-char for waste management and odor control, providing an environmentally friendly and practical approach to handling agricultural waste.
Impact: The bio-char solution improved waste management and reduced odors, benefiting local agricultural businesses and the broader community. Team members contributed through research, solution design, and collaborative problem-solving.
Duration: May 18, 2024 – July 2024
